Paediatric osteopathy can play an important part of establishing health in a baby. Newborn baby checks form a large part of our work and many parents bring their babies in from a couple of days old to a few weeks or months old. We use the very gentle, safe and effective cranial osteopathy techniques on babies to help soothe and relax them.
Some of the reasons parents bring their babies to see us are:
- Tension and inability to relax
- Showing signs of digestive discomfort
Many of the babies we see in our clinic come from personal recommendations by other parents.
We also receive many referrals from professionals involved with infant care and have good working relations with midwives, health visitors and breastfeeding counsellors, for example, and working alongside lactation consultants to give postural advice related to breastfeeding issues. Babies are often brought in for osteopathy sessions after very quick or long births or an assisted delivery.
Jeni and Sam are available for support and advice at the following breastfeeding support groups in Bristol; Cherubs at The Milk Shed in Bedminster and Babes@Zion in Bishopsworth respectively. See Practice news or our Facebook page for details of their dates.
' The treatment itself is incredibly gentle and my daughter really seems to enjoy it. She is a visibly more relaxed baby as a result, and I am a far happier mum. Thank you! '
